So, you may have thought I’d died
13 March 2007 at 6.46 pm | In job | 1 CommentBut, luckily, I didn’t! I’ve just been in a semi-hibernative (<– I just made that up. Spread the word) state since beginning my job search in lovely London. I have to say- being unemployed really sucks. A lot. I thought it would be a bit of a laugh, somewhat like summer vacation or an extended Spring Break (only not in Florida or Jamaica), but it’s kind of a BIG downer. There’s only so many times you can swing by the flower stand on your way home from Starbucks before you realize that you’re not really doing anything worthwhile during your days. Well, aside from applying for jobs.
It’s not that I mind doing laundry, grocery shopping, and occasionally making dinner (in fact, I actually love doing those things…), but being 24 with a BA and an MSc and not being able to find a job is a leetle bit depressing. Don’t you worry, though. I’m sure that as soon as I have a job and have to get up at a certain time (read: waaaay too early), go to an office everyday, and commute into work I’ll be loudly lamenting my long-lost carefree days of unemployment. What can I say? I’m a middle-class American twenty-something. I’m not happy unless I have something to complain about.
